EVENTS
On Wednesday March 2nd, the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival is hosting the official launch of my two cds, Last Western Cowboy and Indigo Snow. I’ll be performing a few songs from the albums, and cds will be available for purchase, so come on down - kick off time is 7pm.
Following the launch at 8pm there will be a screening of my film Heart on the Line. I made this film in 1989 as a way to understand the lives, dreams and attitudes of Nashville’s songwriters, whose art is the lifeblood of the country music industry. It offers a rare chance to see archive footage of some of Nashville's legendary songwriters, including Harlan Howard, 'Cowboy' Jack Clements, Dean Dillon and Whitey Schafer. Central to the film is a unique opportunity to witness the writing of the title song 'Heart on the Line’ by Dean Dillon and Frank Dycus. At 9:30pm Paul McParland's John T Davis: His Own Trail will be shown. Paul’s film has been described as 'A poetic portrait of documentary filmmaker John T Davis, whose reputation was established with groundbreaking works such as Shellshock Rock, Route 66 and Hobo. It features archival footage from John’s own films, and captures him performing his music as well as reflecting on his life, films and travels in the USA.' All three events will take place in the Syrian Room at the Clayton Hotel, 22 Ormeau Avenue, Belfast. Tickets are available online at www.belfastnashville.com or visit the Belfast Welcome Centre (opposite City Hall) 02990246609. |
